Fifth Class are having a very enjoyable year and are really happy to be doing all their teaching and learning in school this year. We enjoyed dressing up for Halloween and World Book Day, doing Marine Science projects and experiments, performing ‘The Night Before Christmas’, making Hope boxes to send to those in need, making Christmas decorations from clay, creating a Class Charter, taking part in an Art Competition for Cllr Kieran McCarthy, doing Science projects on the Solar System, learning about World Revolutions, performing Irish dramas, taking part in lessons on Well-being, working on our skipping skills, doing Zumba with Danny, learning the ‘Haka’ as Gaeilge, taking part in ‘Fit for Feb’ exercises each day, helping with the Book Fair in school, going on walks to the Japanese Gardens and we also have an upcoming visit to Elizabeth Fort which we’re really looking forward to as well as lots of things happening between now and June!
We are working very hard on our Climate Change projects and we are researching the link Climate Change has with Biodiversity which we are currently exploring as part of our Green Schools campaign.
We are currently growing radishes, salad leaves and peas in our class. The peas currently seem to be growing quicker than the others but the next few weeks will tell us more…!
We are so proud that 3 girls in our class came 1st, 2nd and 3rd in a European art competition organised by Councillor Kieran McCarthy. The girls won a new tablet for the class as well as a notebook for each child in the class. Well done girls!
