Intergenerational Week

April 30, 2024

As part of Intergenerational Week fourth class had a visit from local resident Nora O’Donovan and Lord Mayor Kieran McCarthy. Nora told us all about her childhood growing up in West Cork on a farm in the 1950s. Growing up life was tough for Nora as her family did not have running water or electricity and she had to visit a well to get water and use oil lamps to read at night. She told us all about her her jobs in the post office and her role as a telephonist. We were amazed to learn how phone calls were made long ago. We learned some many things from Nora including who a Reverend Mother is and the phrase “baptism of fire”.
